13. The Founder Of KFC First Started Catering By Selling Chicken From His Own Home
After taking over a Shell petrol station on Route 25 near North Corbin, Kentucky, in 1930, Harland Sanders decided to start selling the fried chicken he had learned to cook as a child to travellers - in his own kitchen. Dishes included steak, country ham and macaroni cheese - not to mention the fried chicken he would later become famous for.
