Once he had given up his extremely well-paying job in South Africa and moved back to a far more frugal existence in India, Gandhi attempted to find the perfect - but cheap - diet. After trying many native Indian dishes, Gandhi finally decided that the cheapest but most nutritious diet he could live on would consist of fruit, goats' milk and olive oil. Doesn't seem like Gandhi's idea of a cuisine caught on with the mass market though...
