17. Pulsar Map From The Pioneer Plaque

This design is quite literally out of this world, as the original is currently aboard the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes which were the first spacecraft to achieve escape velocity from the Solar System. The radial pattern shows the position of our solar system in relation to the nearest 14 pulsars and the centre of the galaxy, and the diagram of the solar system demonstrates where the probe came from.

This plate was designed by Frank Drake and Carl and Linda Sagan, then mounted onto the probe just in case a passing alien picked it up outside our solar system and wanted to come and say hi.
