Pepsi was originally known as "Brad's Drink", having been created in New Bern, North Carolina, by Caleb Bradham in 1893.

It was not renamed "Pepsi-Cola" until 1898 - with it bearing the first part of the creator's surname as its brand for the primary five years of its existence.
