Nowadays, two-litre bottles of fizzy drinks - or "pop" as some might call it - are a staple on supermarket shelves.

Yet before 1970 they didn't exist at all. It was the PepsiCo who first introduced the two-litre-sized bottle in 1970 and it was invented by Nathaniel Wyeth of DuPont chemical company - who even received the product's patent in 1973.
