20 Problems Only People From Derby Will Understand

12. This Horrible Eyesore

Every city in the country can boast (if that's the right word) its own shopping mall - if you've seen the inside of one you've seen them all, and Derby's Intu shopping centre is no exception - from the inside, at least. Whether you love the convenience of all those shops and food stalls under one roof or entering the place reminds you of George A. Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, there's one thing that sets Derby's mall apart from the rest - it stares you in the face every time you enter the city. Intu (formerly a Westfield centre, what little difference that makes) has been constructed at the epicentre of the city - a giant, dull grey monument to consumerism that fills the skyline and makes a sunny day feel a little bit more miserable. If ever there was a building that could do with some grafitti or murals painted on it, Derby Intu is that building.
