Talking of rain, there's a downside to all the lush green countryside of South Wales - rain. Lots of rain. As someone who lived in Manchester before coming to university in Pontypridd, I thought I knew what rain was. Then I encountered three days of constant sheet rain with no let up.

It is something anyone who lives in South Wales will face on a constant basis, particularly the further into the valleys you go. A week of rain with minimal breaks? You can count on it. Oh there is the occasional beautiful summer's day, wandering along the River Taff or enjoying a seaside trip to Tenby. But rain is always around the corner.
