20 Problems Only People From South Wales Will Understand

14. Non-Welsh Student? Avoid Ponty After Dark

There certainly might be the old Welsh / English rivalry when it comes to Rugby, but for the most part, living in Wales as an Englishman is a pleasant experience. With the expansion of the University of South Wales across Cardiff, Newport and Treforest (a village outside Pontypridd), South Wales certainly attracts a wide range of people.

Pontypridd is the place all students living in Treforest do their shopping. And in the daytime, this old mining town is a pleasant enough place to be. But if you're not Welsh, you shouldn't venture too close after dark. A local town for local people, as the old League Of Gentlemen saying goes, you're sure to attract the wrong sort of attention, particularly if you're English...and I speak from experience!
