Heading further afield to Merthyr Tydfil and there is one place notorious by its South Wales reputation. It might not be Mosside in Manchester of Hackney in London, but it widely known for its rough and ready nature, Merthyr Tydfil doesn't always get a good reputation - with a report a couple of years ago suggesting that 4,500 out of the 55,000 population claim are unfit to work - but Gurnos is the worst of it.

You are better off on the dole than you are working. We have been told that by people in the council offices. I have been on the sick since I have been old enough to leave school. We don’t want to work to be honest – it is too easy.

High crime, benefit claims and with quotes from the locals like  this, Gurnos is not the most fun place you'll find yourself in South Wales...
