There isn't time for any kind of social awkwardness with you're working with the public because you need to engage and interact with them for the majority of your shift, and eight hours a day is a lot of talking. They'll just be themselves when you meet up with your friends for the first time and they'll always have stories to tell so don't worry about any awkward silences during the night.
