20 Totally Bizarre Places You Won't Believe Actually Exist

19. Haw Par Villa - Singapore

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUuW1MpAiqw If your kids are getting fed up of visiting Disney land year after year, perhaps a trip to Haw Par Villa in Singapore might do the trick. Haw Par Villa Theme Park opened in 1937 with the intention of becoming a venue for teaching traditional Chinese values. However, when the park was taken over in 1988 it changed drastically; into a theme park based on Chinese mythology. The park houses more than 1,000 statues depicting all kinds of bizarre parts of Chinese folklore but the main attraction of the park is the Ten Courts of Hell. This creepy exhibit isn't all that different to Disney's It's a Small World ride, only without the fun song, boats or cute dolls... The Ten Courts of Hell takes you on a walk through a purpose built tunnel and depicts the consequences that wrongdoers will face in Hell. The attraction shows sinners being burnt, stabbed and even hacked to pieces while lying on a stone bed, but in the end it's all okay because the exhibit then explains that you can take a drink of the Waters of Oblivion and erase the bad things you have done in your past. Well, that's okay then...
