18. Witches' Market - La Paz
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl3hkONqa2M The Witches' Market in La Paz, Bolivia is a popular tourist attraction for anyone who finds themselves in the area but it's still unbelievably bizarre. Although many of the stalls are what you might assume can be found at any market, if you take a second look there are much stranger things on offer. One of the most popular items sold at the market are dried llama fetuses, as it is widely believed by many Bolivians that if you bury the llama fetuses under the foundations of your house it is a sacred offering to the goddess Pachamama, and that in return it will bring you good luck. In addition to the llama fetuses, it is also possible to buy dried frogs, turtles and snakes alongside herbal remedies for any problem you can imagine. Although there are few witches to see at the market, it is thought that many of the so-called potions are still mixed and created by witch doctors, who are known in Bolivia as Yatiri.
