20 Totally Bizarre Places You Won't Believe Actually Exist
17. Monaco National Museum - Automatons and Dolls Of Yesteryear
If, like me, you're not the biggest fan of creepy looking dolls, it might be wise to stay away from Monaco's National Museum of Automatons and Dolls from Yesteryear. The museum was first created by Madeleine de Galea who stored many dolls in her Monaco mansion, but when the collection grew too big she was forced to buy the house next door to store the enormous number of dolls. The museum itself houses thousands of dolls but in addition to this it also includes a large number of automatons. Perhaps on hearing the word automaton you might think of Martin Scorsese's recent hit film Hugo, in which 12-year-old Hugo attempts to repair an old automaton that his father was working on until his death. However, unlike this automaton, those displayed in Monaco's museum are much older and therefore much creepier, with their china faces, human hair and the fact that some of them even appear to sigh and breathe. Although the museum isn't really that bizarre, it is definitely not for those suffering from Pediophobia; a fear of dolls.
