20 Tragically Unexpected Truths You Learn In Your Twenties

12. Last Minute Isn't The Way

We've all left things until the proverbial (and literal) last minute, when it would have been far less stressful just to get it done in good time. As kids we might have left chores or homework as late as humanly possible, while higher education saw us pumping out essays at 6am on deadline day, energy drink and caffeine pills in tow. But leaving things late won't always yield good results, despite your eternal insistence that you 'work better under pressure'. Getting on the career ladder and staying there is hard enough, without the risk of producing second-grade work. It's not a competition with yourself any more, as you come up against battle-hardened professionals desperate to outdo you and win that much sought-after promotion. Your twenties are a good time to start enforcing new habits, and managing your time well should probably be one of them.
