21 Problems Only Dancers Will Understand

9. The Inhuman Sounds Your Joints Make

It's no secret that dance is hard on the joints; pretty much every dancer will deal with some sort of injury to their knees, hips, or ankles at some point in their career. The more immediate and noticeable effect of all that stretching, bending, and contorting, however, comes in the form of sound. Take a step *crack* bend over *crack* move too quickly *crack.* Dancers soon find that their joints have developed a propensity for popping. Isn't that just... lovely?

8. Everything About Quick Changes

Most people can change their outfit in a minute or two; dancers can often do it in less than twenty seconds, and not in a well lit room. No, they can change everything while standing in a dimly lit narrow strip of back stage, surrounded by a dozen other frantic performers. Of course, these magical changes take years of practice. There will many instances of running onstage for the next piece wearing some wrong piece, or still being stuck in your previous costume with the other just pulled over it. Dancers can only dream of a leisurely change.
