11. Bush Served As A Part-Time US Fighter Pilot In The Texas Air National Guard... And Was Suspended For Failing To Take A Physical

In May 1968 Bush was commissioned in the Texas Air National Guard and he performed two years of active-duty service during his training in Houston. Having flown Convair F-102s interceptor aircraft out of the Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base, Bush was suspended from flying in 1973 for failing to take a scheduled physical exam. He was then honourably discharged from the Air Force Reserve on November 21, 1974 - having served for four years.
