Some straight guys may not see lesbianism as a barrier to sex, but they definitely dont see it if youre femme, or even if youre simply not stereotypically butch. Chances are, if you dont have a crew cut or have ever worn a skirt, youve been asked to prove it by numerous people, regardless of their gender or sexuality. Thankfully, once you come out you have to submit your gayness to a board and, when approved, you get a universally recognised Gay ID. Its probably a blessing that this is not the case, but it can get awkward when someone youve just snogged asks, Are you straight?, because apparently putting your tongue in a girls mouth is not proof of lesbianism.
