23 Problems That Only Travel Agency Workers Will Understand

Travelling to hell and back every day

It always seemed like a perfect job; you love travel and have a pretty good idea about the world thanks to that incredible gap year, so why not help others to do the same? Only when it was too late did it become apparent that to assist others in travelling, your job must be the actual antithesis of it. Salespeople are what most travel agents are reduced to. Salespeople working in cramped offices. Soon it becomes less about sharing a love of terrestrial exploration and more about hitting that key profit line where your commission jumps from 10% to 15%. Before long, all those gap year memories fade away like somebody else€™s photo album on Facebook, and the only travel you do is between your apartment and the office. But it's not all bad. You readjust to society and before long you actually have some anecdotes to tell that take place in your own country. You get to have a room and bed that are all yours and your clothes are stored on hangers in wardrobes and don€™t smell of curry and sweat. Ultimately, the true joy of being a travel agent is the constant reminder that there is so much out there, ready for you to explore. You just have to save up all your annual holiday leave and use it all at once.
