23 Things Only A Chocolate Shop Employee Will Understand

9. The Chocolate Box/ Carrier Bag Disjunction

Somewhere, somehow, communication completely broke down between the people designing the boxes of chocolates and the people designing the bags to put them in.

Perhaps it's because shopping bags come in standard sizes and the boxes don't. Regardless, the two hardly ever match up, leaving you trying to fit boxes that are either too small, too long, or too wide into the carrier bag. Expect to destroy about three bags in the attempt, while the customer becomes increasingly impatient with your incompetence.

Follow this with the look of utter disgust when you finally offer them a bag that they can't actually carry because the box is in the way of the handles, and you'd think you'd offered to slap their first born in the face.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
