9. The British Prime Minister Helped To Cover Up The Soviet Murder Of 20,000 Poles During The Katyn Forest Massacre
The Katyn Forest Massacre of April and May 1940 saw some 20,000 Poles murdered by the Soviets - yet Churchill and President Roosevelt attempted to cover this up. In an attempt to keep Stalin and the Soviets on side, Churchill promised that any "investigation" would prove the USSR were not actually involved in April 1943. Despite having seen evidence implicated the Soviets, Churchill told Stalin:
"We shall certainly oppose vigorously any 'investigation' by the International Red Cross... Such an investigation would be a fraud and its conclusions reached by terrorism."
