5. Churchill Suffered From A Stutter... So Planned His Famous Remarks Weeks In Advance
As a red-haired teenager, Churchill talked with both a stutter and a lisp - things he feared would return during his tenure as Prime Minister. Authors during the 1920s and 1930s even refer to his stutter as both "severe" and "agonising", so in a bid to overcome it Churchill would prepare his remarks weeks in advance and then repeat them regularly. This would then allow him to speak fluently - and is how he came to be able to make his famous World War II "Churchillian" speeches.
