3 Reasons Why Microsoft’s Next Generation Plans Should Include a Handheld

An intense desire for all things Microsoft hit a fever pitch this past summer when rumors began circulating about an imminent announcement from Microsoft. Speculation of a new gaming tablet device called Xbox Surface was running rampant on the Internet. This was in a part to several €œleaked€ documents detailing specs of the device and rumored it to use Smart Glass technology. It was an exciting time. While Surface didn't turn out to be exactly what the rumors spoke of (go figure) they did show the potential business Microsoft is leaving at the table. They don€™t have to leave the pile of money at the table in the next generation rumored (once again) to start holiday 2013. Avid patent hunters discovered Microsoft had submitted an application with the Patents and Trademarks Office concerning their next console and its scalability potentially bringing it closer in line with a PC rather than the 360. While the Xbox 720 or Infinity or whatever its called might not use these patents it is apparent Microsoft is willing to toss more than one idea on the wall to see what sticks. Here are three reasons why Microsoft€™s future plans should include a handheld.

Am I a nerd? Yes. Am I a geek? Yes indeed. I am so proud of being both, and wear those badges with honor. I am happily married with a wife who is way out of my league and a father of two. Video games are my passion. I have an inherent need to have every console because I don’t want to miss out on the next big thing. I will be spending most of my time writing about gaming, but I have opinions about TV, Movies, and Sports as well. I look forward to sharing my views and hearing yours.
