It's been 5 years since George R.R. Martin's A Dance with Dragons hit shelves, and the penultimate Game of Thrones novel has been long-suffering delays due to Martin's deliberate creative process, much to the ire of his fanbase. Just recently, Martin missed his latest publication deadline, so while it's entirely possible that the book will indeed hit stores in the next 12 months, don't be surprised if it slides into 2017 and possibly beyond. It's all the more disconcerting as, to be kind, Martin will be close to 70 by the time the book is published, and if he drags his feet too long, nature could very well intervene before he finishes up the seventh and final novel. But let's keep sunny and optimistic, right? 2016 is the year.
