30 Awesome Reasons To Stay Alive In 2016

3. The Last Guardian (TBA)

Let's be honest: you probably won't believe this game actually exists until you're playing it yourself, and with good reason. First shown off as a PS3 title at E3 2009 and continually delayed since then, it was finally re-introduced at last year's E3 as a PS4 game, with an apparent 2016 release date (though roughly nobody would be surprised if it missed it). Why all the hype, then? Team ICO are, of course, responsible for two of the best games ever released for the PS2, in ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian has a premise that's no less irresistible: you play a young boy who must team up with a large, griffin-like animal named Trico to navigate puzzles and escape shadow-beings. The crux of the gameplay is the interaction between boy and animal, as the player has to essentially train Trico to become a more efficient helper throughout the game. If it works, it's going to be marvelous, and Team ICO (or GenDesign as they're now basically known) haven't let us down yet (apart from all the damn delays, of course).
