5 Biggest Reasons The Media Turn On Stars (With 5 Examples)
2. Changing Image
This is another issue that many child Disney stars go through as they get older. Eventually they outgrow their role and theyre left with very little idea of what to do. The solution? Go crazy. Show the world that theyre not in fact a Disney-generated star theyve portrayed for the past years. Every Disney star has done it, really every child star has done it, one way or another. Some people do it more gracefully than others, and some do it much more drastically than others. Rather than slowly start to appear in more adult films, actors seem to think that going from zero to sixty in 3.5 seconds. No hating on those who do, but its hard to take them seriously. I think that every actor who feels pigeonholed into doing something feels that they have to do something drastic to get out of it. When in reality, a simple statement would do just fine.
Example: Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus has received for so many things within the past year, starting with her new hairdo; where she cut off her hair and went blonde. That was the first of many things she did that the news started to get weary of her. And then of course: twerking. Had Miley stopped at the hair and simply changed what she sung about, I think that would have been fine. There would have been backlash from long time fans who were stunned at the sudden change, but in the end people would have accepted the change and moved on. Instead, Miley decided to go overboard, and duet with Robin Thicke at the VMAs and, well, we all know the rest. Wrecking Ball happened andwell, she definitely changed her image. The media turned on Miley faster than anyone, and now theres more people against Miley than for her. The news magazines for the most part are just trying to figure out what happened. She doesnt seem to care though, and you have to give her credit for letting so much roll off her back.
I'm currently attending my local college while trying to figure out who I am. I love Doctor Who, Sherlock, really any BBC show. I've also been told I'm a bit of a nerd. Specifically, a theatre nerd.
