5 Biggest Reasons The Media Turn On Stars (With 5 Examples)

1. Just Going Off The Deep End

Amanda Bynes. Britney Spears. Lindsay Lohan. These are two people who are known more for what they did to end their careers than the actual career itself. These three ladies were all stars when they were younger, and basically got fed up with Hollywood, or fed up with life maybe, and decided to€just do what they wanted. It€™s hard to blame the media, because in these cases they were just reporting what happened. But many people will argue it€™s from being in the media for so long that they went down this path. And many of these stars can€™t come back from it. Britney Spears is now a judge on the X Factor, Amanda Bynes cleaned up (I think?), Lindsay Lohan€™s been in a few movies, but no one will forget their catastrophic phases, which has basically set the tone for the rest of their career. But right now, it€™s not Amanda Bynes, Lindsay Lohan, or Britney Spears we think of about going of the deep end, is it?

Example: Justin Bieber

This was a slow decline, but once he started, he couldn€™t stop. I think it started in the United Kingdom where he cursed out the paparazzi, and escalated to apparently using codeine, promethazine, and prescription drugs. And during the currently infamous egging that took place last week, there was supposedly a stash of ecstasy with one of the friends who egged the house. There have been numerous other things Justin has been accused of, including stomping on the Argentinian flag during a concert, getting with a prostitute, and the graffiti in Brazil. It€™s like Justin wants to be a bad story in music€™s history. The thing about Justin is that he was thrusted into a world of international phase at an incredibly young age. Not 'mousekateer' age, but there€™s something to be said for the way that Disney prepares it€™s child stars that Justin never received. He€™s made mistakes for the longest time, and up until recent events, you could easily blame it on the lack of expectation of what was to become of him. Now there are rumors that they€™re suggesting retirement. Maybe he€™ll come back in a few years and be better. Or maybe we€™ll never hear from him again. What other reasons have the media had for turning on a celebrity? What other celebrity can you think of?

I'm currently attending my local college while trying to figure out who I am. I love Doctor Who, Sherlock, really any BBC show. I've also been told I'm a bit of a nerd. Specifically, a theatre nerd.
