5 Reasons To Visit Universal Orlando Resort On A Last Minute Vacation

2. Eat Where You Want, No Reservations Required

As someone who is a more go-with-the-flow type, dining at Universal is ideal for me.

Having lots of dining reservations doesn't always work with the way I vacation. I much prefer to wait and see where I am and how hungry I am before I decide where to eat. I don't want to think I can't treat myself to a snack because I have a lunch reservation in an hour; which will cause me problems and cost me money to amend.

As life at Universal is much more chilled we changed our dining plans frequently throughout the day. We got up in the morning with the idea that we were going to head to lunch at Islands of Adventure's award-winning Mythos restaurant, but as we explored we ended up skipping this and enjoying a Butterbeer filled late lunch at The Three Broomsticks. A trip to Toothsome Chocolate Emporium ended up being switched to Vivo as the allure of their delicious pasta became the craving of the evening.

We were prepared that we might have had to wait for a table at Vivo, given that there were three of us on a very busy HHN Saturday evening but were surprised to wait less than 10 minutes, not even enough time to order a drink from the bar. Similarly on our last action packed day we realised it was 4pm and we hadn't even eaten lunch (that's a day of snacking around the park for you) so we chanced a visit to NBC Grill and Brew and secured a table in 5 minutes. The absence of being almost forced to make reservations made the day much more laid back. We could experience everything at our own pace with no worry that we wouldn't eat.

As I said earlier my friend has allergies so getting dining right was important to us. She felt completely safe in every restaurant that we ate at. Chefs/Managers often came to speak to her and on the one occasion they didn't the server spoke to the chef about her choice to confirm its suitability. The fact that we had just turned up for a table didn't make a difference. Universal take care of allergies so well, they don't need to know you are coming in advance to make it a safe experience.
