5 Reasons We’ll Be Disappointed By The Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse

5. The Crowds

World War Z There are 7 billion living humans on this planet. Not all of them are going to be infected with zombie-itus. If only half the Earth€™s population were wiped out today, we€™d still have the same amount of people as in the year - you€™re not gunna believe this - 1970. Crazy, right? So, let€™s just imagine the sheer amount of people evacuated from their homes, fleeing from zombies, just flapping and freaking out in the streets getting in your way. What we€™re used to seeing in zombie media is desolate, apocalyptic worlds. Take Will Smith in I Am Legend - €œThe last man on Earth is not alone€ - yeah, but is he faced with herds of screaming families as he wanders around New York City? No. He€™s pretty much got the place to himself (minus the zombies) which is half the fun. It€™s bad enough heaving yourself into a human sardine tin on the Monday morning train commute. You see our species and the innate selfish gene in full glory on those 8am journeys: bags in your back, elbows out to get the first seats - the thought alone is enough to induce clammy-handed flash-backs. Now if there€™s an outbreak of zombies, and crowds are squabbling to evacuate an area, that horrific social enclosure is going to be a million times worse. And you€™re probably not going to get that window seat.
