Unfortunately like all good movies, The Great Movie Ride's run in theatres has come to an end.

This weekend saw the closure of the popular Walt Disney World attraction after 28 years, admitting its final customer into the world of film on Sunday 13th August.

Queues for the ride grew to over two hours on its last day, as fans wanted to make sure they got to experience their favourite movies a final time. Official merchandise marking the closure quickly sold out as everyone wanted to take home a small reminder of The Great Movie Ride's last day.

The final few weeks of the ride's existence had fans on a rollercoaster of emotions as they came to terms with the news of its closure. Fans turned to the internet to express their sadness and anger as one of the most iconic rides was stripped away from Hollywood Studios.

As with any type of loss, those who loved The Great Movie Ride experienced the 5 stages of grief.

5. Shock

At the Parks and Resorts panel at D23 it was announced that The Great Movie Ride would be closing its doors forever.

Even though rumours had been circulating for a while of the closure, there was still shock at the sudden end of the ride.

Disney gave less than a month's notice for fans to get one last ride on the classic attraction. Given all the current construction at Hollywood Studios, fans probably assumed that it would be a while before it would close.
