7 Body Mods That Everybody Might Soon Have

2. Biometric Tattoos

Don't fancy the commitment of an implant, but still want all the benefits?

Wearables are all well and good, but they can be cumbersome, expensive, unreliable and inconvenient. In the near future, biometric tattoos could be the name of the game for people who don't quite have enough screws loose to go wedging batteries under their skin.

As technology becomes smaller, more efficient and more flexible, it could be possible to apply elements unobtrusively to the skin and connect them up using conductive paints. They can be used to monitor everything from your stress levels to your sleeping patterns, used for contactless payments and worn under any clothes in multiple places on the body. Not only are they cheap and non-invasive, but they're also much greener than the wearable devices we see today with much less waste going to landfill as soon as the newest model comes out.
