5. MAYHEM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MehPlnXgxYk This is a case of people seizing the opportunity to do something we all have fantasised about. The location of this party was at a soon-to be demolished house in Glenn Waverley, Victoria, Australia, where the family had already moved out. This was another "bigger is better" type of party which had 700 attendees. This was also advertised on Facebook through an event called "MAYHEM". The land owners, a family of 4, had moved out for the time being as they were re-building the house from the ground up. Destruction and deformation of the property was implied and encouraged by the group's hosts, taking advantage of the empty property. It didn't take long into the night for the fuzz to show up. Once again, party-goers threw bottles at those pesky police officers but that isn't where they stopped. Fireworks were launched at the officers who had to use riot shields to protect themselves. Ironically in Australia fireworks are illegal for personal use including, but not limited to, personal usage as a weapon. Some of the fences were torn down, many cars smashed or flipped and more than one home was vandalised mostly with graffiti containing profanity, smashed windows and torn up lawns. Not only that but there were accusations of the police unnecessary harming innocent under-aged drinkers, however no charges were laid against them. After it all several anonymous youths said that a MAYHEM 2 was planned. It hasn't been a year since this happened, so there's still some likelihood that MAYHEM 2 is soon to happen. Just as a tidbit, a P.S. if you will, I was actually invited to MAYHEM. Some of the comments on that page contained things I'll never repeat.
