To be fair, Michelle Pfeiffer is no longer in a cult, but the actress revealed that she used to be involved in a movement known as breatharianism.

Breatharians believe that it is possible for humans to survive without food or water, instead drawing their energy and nutrients from sunlight instead, which they believe is a universal divine light called prana. The idea is kind of similar to the way plants photosynthesize - but in a more spiritual way of course - despite the fact that you have precisely zero cells in your body capable of that.

So how do breatharians survive without food or water? Well, the simple answer is that they don't. They generally die or cheat, and no breatharian has managed to survive under controlled scientific conditions.

Pfeiffer says that she was brainwashed by a couple of breatharians when she first moved to Hollywood, who claimed that she too could be part of their movement, so long as she handed over lots of money. Weird that.
