6. All Women Will Be Artificially Impregnated

The advances in fertility treatments has made it possible for more people to have a family that would have been unable to in the past. However, since pretty much the invention of IVF and similar treatments, people have been predicting that, in the future, all women will be routinely impregnated in this way.

Whilst the treatment is surely miraculous for people who are unable to naturally conceive, it seems pretty unlikely that we'll ever think that an expensive and invasive procedure carried out under the fluorescent lights of a doctor's office would be overwhelmingly considered better than sex - a totally free procedure that can be carried out at home without even having to get out of bed.

The Exception: A possible exception to this would be if the practice of genetically engineering or at least selecting embryos for desirable traits becomes commonplace, which is another source of reproductive handwringing for futurists
