9 Celebrities You Won't Believe Were Once Homeless

7. Halle Berry

Halle Berry's is a true tale of rags to riches. In 1989, the future Hollywood star moved to New York City, in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Initially, things didn't all go to plan, and Berry soon found herself out-of-work and penniless. For a time, she was forced to live in a homeless shelter. "A girl had to do what a girl had to do," says Berry in an interview with Reader's Digest. "You can do that when you're 21 and ambitious, and your eyes are this big and you don't want to go home." Berry never gave up and, two years after moving to the Big Apple, she had her big break with a role as a drug addict in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever.
