9 Celebrities You Won't Believe Were Once Homeless

2. William Shatner

William Shatner Unlike the previous entries on this list, William Shatner's stint of homelessness actually took place after his most famous role. Shatner became a cultural icon for his portrayal of Captain Kirk on the original Star Trek television and film series. Shortly after Star Trek went off the air in 1969, Shatner found himself in financial difficulty. He was forced to live in a pickup truck due to being totally broke following a rough divorce, while searching for work at theaters. "I lived out of the back of my truck," recalls Shatner. "It had a little stove, a toilet, and I€™d drive from theater to theater. The only comfort came from my dog, who sat in the passenger seat and gave me perspective on everything." Shatner was later able to salvage his career, thanks to the Star Trek movies and starring roles on television series such as Boston Legal and T.J. Hooker.
