9 Most Shocking Political Sex Scandals In History

8. Indian Politicians And The Ice Cream Parlour

Of course, it's not just Americans with complex and colourful cover-up stories. Since 1997, there have been persistent accusations that an ice-cream parlour- that most adorable and delicious of specialty eateries- in South India is in fact a front for a brothel. If that's not disturbing enough (come on guys, don't do it where they keep the sprinkles!), this brothel was allegedly founded and run by high-ranking officials in the Indian government as well as higher-ups in the legal system and other members of the Indian ruling classes. P.K. Kunhalikutty, the minister for Industries and Information Technology (an extremely influential role), was named as ringleader in both the initial accusation and a follow-up investigation in 2012. In addition to the actual creation, running and use of a brothel (all of which is illegal in India, though prostitution is not), the officials involved are accused of blackmailing and bribing people who were trying to bring the scandal to light. Whatever the case, these methods seem to have worked as no one has yet been prosecuted despite mounting evidence of this soft-serve sex-parlour. Most of the accused, including Kunhalikutty, are still in positions of power and the case might have been forgotten entirely if everyone didn't love ice-cream so much. Tip for would-be illegal brothel owners: choose a less adorable location.
