It's a (confusing) tale as old as time (2012). Boy (David Petraeus, retired general and director of the CIA) meets girl (his wife of 38 years, Holly), then other girl (Paula Broadwell, his biographer and mistress of several years standing) and then, seemingly, another girl (Jill Kelley, a family friend who Petraeus may or may not have also slept with but who Broadwell totally thought he'd slept with and who the media decided he'd definitely slept with) who for her own part met two totally different guys (her husband and John R. Allen, another army general). Following so far? The important bit is that the extremely high-ranking Petraeus was not only cheating on his wife with Broadwell but also sharing classified information and documents with her (a charge to which he has since pleaded guilty). Meanwhile, Broadwell became convinced he was cheating on her (double-cheating? Cheating once removed?) with Kelley and started sending anonymous, threatening emails telling Kelley to stay away from Petraeus. The FBI began to investigate this cyber-stalking and, in the course of their probe, discovered that Broadwell was sleeping with Petraeus, Kelley was exchanging explicit emails with Allen and thatone of the FBI agents on the case had, in the past, sent topless photos to Kelley. It was all extraordinarily entertaining to watch unfold for everyone except the spouses of the people involved.
