9 Outstanding Female Comedians Funnier Than Amy Schumer

7. Wanda Sykes

This woman is brash, rude, loud, and unapologetic. And her fans wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a shame that some people only know her from sitcoms or as the voice of Grandma Sloth in the Ice Age movies, because Wanda is so much more.

She didn't come out publicly as a lesbian until her forties, but that doesn’t mean she was frightened, even for a second. As liberal as Hollywood is, they are still quite conservative in many ways and many careers have ended due to performers coming out before reaching their pinnacle.

However since coming out she has become a staunch activist against the government placing restrictions on people solely because of who they are. Besides, it’s not like there’s a rule stating you have to tell everyone all your business, all of the time.

Her standout role playing an exaggerated version of herself on Curb Your Enthusiasm was a defining one. It was clear from her performance that she had no trouble holding her own in that entirely improvised show.
