3. The Grey Lady
There are multiple versions of this urban legend. Depending on where you're from the ghost may be called something else, but most commonly is referred to as The Grey Lady.
The story goes that hundreds of years ago, a lady had been sleeping with her servant and came to bore a children from the affair. When her husband found out, he set fire to the house and killed everyone inside. There are various differences in her story, but all feature the poor woman being killed in horrifically violent ways.
It is said that the lady's spirit still lives on, desperately waiting for her love to return. Reports of her presence vary from place to place, one incarnation simply sits and rocks a cradle, while some have saved the lives of entire cities.
Most commonly, the ghost is portrayed as a malevolent spirit who seeks revenge for her untimely death. She often haunts people and becomes jealous of the life they're enjoying. The ghost would roam the house, appearing in mirrors, slamming doors and throwing things across the room.
The Grey Lady has also been blamed for unexplained miscarriages, claiming she has the ability to curse women so they feel the loss of a child like she did.
