Alton Towers: Ranking The Rollercoasters From Worst To Best

7. Sonic Spinball

Opened in 2004 and re-themed in 2010 to add the 'Sonic' aspect, this Maurer Söhne rollercoaster includes a spinning element (meaning that the carriage spins around a 360 degree axis in addition to moving around the track in the traditional fashion). Reaching a top speed of 38mph and travelling a distance of 450 metres, the ride has a lower height restriction than most rollercoasters (1.2m) and offers children a chance to ride a rollercoaster that has the ability to thrill adults in short bursts too. The most thrilling parts of the ride come when the carriages make brief ascents that are essentially vertical but, other than that, the ride is understandably quite tame. Still, it's pretty fun.
