Apple iOS 5 Released Today at 6pm UK Time

Apple will release the iOS 5 operating system to the web. The new operating system has been much anticipated by apple users everywhere and a flurry of positive reviews have littered the web already from those who have already got their lucky hands on it. Shane Richmond, Head of Technology at The Telegraph has given the operating system the full five stars in his review calling it "a brilliant upgrade to an already brilliant operating system". When you connect your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad devices to your computer after 6pm UK time tonight you will be asked to download the upgrade to iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5, bringing over 200 new features to your fingertips. This is Apple's way to stay competitive with the whole host of Android advances that have hit the market this year and also giving users the full benefit of the iCloud - the much talked about new synching device that will keep all your cool devices on the same wavelength without relying on a computer connection. (you can see Apple's full list HERE) The one that really caught my eye was iMessage which allows users to send unlimited text messages without paying a dime to anyone else with an iPhone or iPod. The Notification Center which can be accessed via a very convenient slide down menu, nice, organised and compact. No longer will you be playing a two player game of Scrabble with a friend and she will be able to read your text message right and center in the middle of the screen which interrupts your game! According to the Telegraph review "Notification Centre is the change that will have the most impact on how you use your iPhone or iPad" The NewStand which is basically a virtual shelf for newspaper and magazine subscriptions. One that will excite twitter users is Twitter Integration which makes share something so much easier as it's just one touch of the button from so many programs such as Youtube and Maps. There's also an upgraded and faster Safari (though I would still probably use Firefox), a better camera, a better mail application and more. How excited are you for the new operating system?
