IFA 2012: 5 Upcoming Sony Releases You're Going To Love

Here's just five of the many gadgets Sony are bringing out this fall that we at What Culture just know you're going to love.

When Sony Entertainment got in touch with WhatCulture! and asked if one of their bloggers would like to attend this years IFA tech and gadget expo in Berlin, I jumped at the chance and got the first available plane. Five days prior to Sony's keynote press briefing given by President and Chief Executive Officer, Kazuo Hirai, the rumour mills were already going into a figurative overdrive as tech fans began guessing just what it was that Sony would be wheeling out onto the market this year. As I arrived in Berlin, my imagination was captured by the thought of the wondrous, shiny new gadgets waiting in store for me to play around with, and I wasn't disappointed. From smart phones, tablets, Playstation Move Games, televisions and cameras, there was an eclectic feast of items on display as the media converged on the city to gawp and gasp at some of Sony's latest and greatest creations. Here's just five of the many gadgets Sony are bringing out this fall that we at What Culture just know you're going to love.

5. VAIO Duo 11

The debate "tablet or laptop?" can be put to rest with the VAIO Duo 11, Sony's latest Ultrabook which combines the comfort and convenience of an open laptop with the smart, slick and transportable accessibility of a tablet, all in one easy, sliding move. At just 1.3kg and only 18mm thin, the VAIO Duo 11 gives users computing on the go, whenever, wherever. As well as the keyboard, the Duo 11 also has touch screen functionality and also allows for handwriting with a digitizer stylus pen, which can be customised to allow for a soft or hard handwriting style. Apps are going to be made available so that the device knows when a user is writing with the stylus pen, intelligently ignoring palm pressure on the touchscreen for easy use. Another app already confirmed is Active Clip„. No editing skills? No problem. Users can use the stylus pen to draw roughly around the edges of images, which Active Clip„ will cleanly crop to size ready for you to implement your photos straight into a word document or presentation. Although part tablet, Duo 11 comes complete with all the features you'd expect a regular laptop to have, including all the main ports such as USB, HDMI, Ethernet and VGA. According to Sony, we can expect Duo 11 to hit retail outlets in October.
