Apple are expected to release the new shrunk-down unit in time for the Christmas rush with the device expected to hit the high street s by 2nd November, with pre-orders expected ahead of that date. Reports suggest that demand is going to be huge, and that Apple have ordered 10 million of the Minis from supplier ahead of the launch. Mail Online research suggests that 22 per cent of us own a tablet, with another three per cent regularly borrowing someone else's, and that about 68 per cent of the 9,5123 surveyed said they had purchased their tablet within the last year. The same research, conducted by the Pew Research Center in the US, also suggesed that the flood of cheaper tablets, like the Google Nexus or Amazon Fire, have weakened Apple's traditionally vice-like grip on the market, which last year accounted for more than 80 per cent of the market, but which has now dropped to less around 52 per cent.
