https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKdWkc0w0-I I think its fair to say that the iPhone 6/6 Plus design was a bit of an anti climax - although its grown on me - and the tech giant realise they need to make some changes. Many people are expecting the iPhone 7 to be fundamentally different in look and design to the two generations of iPhone that came before it. Theres been some hilarious mock-ups of what the iPhone 7 may look like (see video). Marek Weidlich, a Czech designer, shows a top-to-bottom screen, which would be a first for any manufacturer. It may seem a bit far fetched but he may be right, obviously this would come from using some new techniques of design. It's possible that the company will use different materials to make the iPhone 7 more durable. Some of the biggest speculation for a Sapphire glass for the display and Liquidmetal for the chassis, and two generations later the giant may be ready to unveil one or both of these upgrades (we hope). Where's The Proof?: It's hard to say, Apple usually keeps the same design for two generations of the iPhone (the 4 and 4s, say, or the 6 and 6s), before unveiling a physical redesign on the next update so we can guess that whatever comes next, its 'S' series will pretty much look the same. There's been so much talk about a curved display and I'd be wary about any of those rumours. The reason so many people think a curved display would be on the cards is because Apple applied for a patent. Knowing Apple, the Patent 9,146,590, which refers to an 'electronic device with wrap around display', could easily end up appearing in a product in the future or not appearing at all. But, the application, which was approved in September, was applied for a good few years ago, so the dream may be a reality next year.
