3. Say Goodbye To The Home Button
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=238G3WDCPRM This would be a radical idea, and probably one thats a step too far, but is worth note. Designer Hasan Kaymak put together a video that imagines the end of the famous home button which encompasses the Touch ID at present. Instead, theres a virtual home button, and the Touch ID fingerprint sensor is placed in a tiny Apple logo under the bigger, edge-to-edge display. In my view I love the design of the back and that should be how the iPhone 6 actually looked, but the ideas also include a 24-megapixel camera with support for third-party lenses, and a large 3,000 mAh battery. Truly, the stuff of dreams.
Where's The Proof?: This is actually only something which has been given more weight in the last few days. Citing sources in Taiwan's integrated circuit industry,
DigiTimes reported
on Monday that Apple is developing technologies which would see 'touch and display driver integration' in a single-chip, apparently with fingerprint sensors, which would allow for new iPhone designs without a home button. I don't think this really is farfetched. Apple introduced 3D Touch with its iPhone 6s model which gave birth to a whole set of future devices which have the capability to use the power of force to control their phone rather than relying on a physical button.
