Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ vs Galaxy Note 5: 6 Key Aspects Compared

6. Design

Both devices follow in the design footsteps of the Galaxy S6 series. The S6 Edge Plus has more refined edges than its non-plus predecessor, and it actually manages to be a bit thinner at 6.9mm despite having a bigger screen. According to Samsung, it's more scratch-resistant than the standard S6 Edge too, which is just as well given that the display looks like it oozes out of the chassis. The Note 5, meanwhile, has turned its back on the tacky faux-leather rear chassis of its ancestors and embraced the curved glass rear of its peers. The glass curves off elegantly on the left and right edges of the phone, in a way similar to the curves of the S6 Edge Plus display. The Note 5 is the slimmest member of the Note family at 7.6mm. The Note 5 is a bit more angular than the S6 Edge, and the fact that it doesn't have the sleek - if superfluous - edge means it doesn't win out in the looks department. But with its nifty Stylus capabilities it's aimed more at the organisational obsessive rather than the tech or design enthusiast. Both phones mark a new high-point in design for Samsung, and painful memories of the dimpled-plastic Galaxy S5 and the clunky Note Edge have been all but banished. The S6 laid the ground for Samsung phones to have a fantastic design, but it's only now with these two phablets that the 'S' series has finally achieved the premium look to do justice to its impressive hardware.
