A Song Of Ice And Fire: 9 Essential Questions For The Winds Of Winter

3. Has Winter Finally Come?

Untitledothers1 The title, The Winds Of Winter, suggest the Others are finally breaking through the Wall. Remember though, how A Dance With Dragons did not lead to Aegon and Daenerys battling each other? Going off-topic, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince did not mainly focus on the identity of the Half-Blood Prince, and not all titles can be trusted and some are purposely misleading. Wouldn't it be typical of GRRM to convince of us the story is heading in a certain direction only to an opposite path? Let's say the title does mean the Other's freedom. Earlier in the article, I theorized the Horn of Winter is unknowingly in Samwell Tarly's possession. As we know, Sam has a habit of screwing things up, and this trait was a big reason why he volunteered for the Night's Watch. There he still shows this trait by being too craven to send the ravens at the Battle at the Fist of the First Men. It would be poetic if he is trying to find a way to beat the Others only to accidentally destroy the Wall. The Others have something planned. It has been two books now since they attacked the Night's Watch. Why have they not attacked again? The Watch was struggling just to survive the weather and starvation in ADwD. They were subject to an attack at anytime. The Others could have destroyed them in one large battle. What are they waiting for? Of course, as I said before, the title could mean something else. It could just pertain to to the changing of the seasons.
