The Dark Tower: Each Ka-Tet Member Ranked Worst To Best
3. Eddie Dean
Eddie is a character that - much like Oy - feels like a real emotional centre of the story. His position is incredibly strong as his light-hearted jokes, and one-liners grant him the part of being the charismatic comic relief of the series. In a franchise as dark as this, that is undoubtedly a much-needed title. However, Eddie is so much more than just a funny character, as he has many moments of depth and proves time and time again why he is a valuable Gunslinger.
The character is first introduced in The Drawing of the Three through a door marked The Prisoner. He begins as a heroin addict who naturally is hesitant to trust Roland as he possesses his mind, but eventually throughout the book they come to an understanding, and as the novels develop the two truly see eye to eye.
Eddie's connection with Susannah is also one of the most emotional bonds within the series, as the two are utterly linked by destiny - Ka if you will - and share a deep love that drives both of their motives.
He is easily a fan-favourite and only ranks a little lower because at times his goofy antics can be a little detracting from the narrative.
