Will readers ever discover anything about the two mysterious Gryffindor girls? That remains to be seen. But the fact that readers still dont know isnt for lack of trying. Fans have asked Rowling, point blank, but shes never given a straight answer. On a WebDay chat in 2004: I havent got the notebook to hand and I cant remember! Thats terrible. Ill try and remember before the end of the chat!" And in a 2007 podcast, Rowling emphasized that it wasnt important, but that she would reveal the names. Its 2015, and still nothing. Oh well. Its great open-ended material for the fan fiction writers.
