6. 1971 - Liberation
January 21 1971 saw Saint-Laurent showcase his most scandalous and outrageous collection to date titled, Liberation, or by the worldwide press, buyers and clientele hailing it the Scandal collection. Drawing inspiration from the 1940s, the collection housed short dresses, platform shoes, harsh square shoulders with references to an occupied Paris, which caused the scandal. The scandalous collective house 80 designs including one of the Houses signature prints, the intensely red and pink lips, which has been created in various forms ever since. This spring summer collection saw deep green fox fur coats, silk black knee-length dresses with vibrant yellow lace middle resembling a corset and also the pantsuit seen in previous collections became double breasted with wide lapels and a flared trouser.
